2024 was an eventful year for Extreme Networks. Our company hosted a fantastic Extreme Connect event for our customer community, unveiled several new product and technology capabilities, and delivered on our commitment to serving organizations across the globe.

However, in my role as Chief Sustainability Officer, I have a slightly different vantage point, and there’s another aspect of our business that leaves me beaming with pride: our ongoing dedication to driving sustainable and responsible growth.

Today, I’m excited to officially share our 2024 Corporate Responsibility Report, which highlights our achievements and reaffirms our mission to promote and support our people, foster sustainability, and deliver effective governance.

This year marked the fifth anniversary of our responsibility reporting, and it was refreshing to see progress across these three core pillars: people, sustainability, and governance.

From the outset, our journey around corporate responsibility and sustainability has been more than just a series of initiatives; it’s part of the fabric of our culture. By integrating these commitments into every aspect of our operations—from product design and delivery to supply chain management, employee and community support—we have positioned ourselves to better navigate the complexities of today’s global landscape while making a positive impact internally on our employees, for our customers, and on the broader environment and society in which we all live.

Some of my favorite achievements from this year’s progress report included:

  • Sustainability: One of our most impressive milestones was achieved when we officially declared that 100% of our product packaging is FSC certified and recyclable. In addition, overall, Extreme drove a 27% reduction in energy consumption since 2021. These are no small feats and reflect our team’s focus on reducing our environmental impact by managing emissions, optimizing resource use, and designing sustainable products. Additional metrics and milestones included:
    • A 20% improvement in power efficiency.
    • We reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 21% from the base year 2021.
    • The development of new products in line with ISO14024 Type 1 ecolabels.
    • The utilization of ≥80% recycled content in paper and ≥30% in plastic and sheet metal.
  • People: From a headcount perspective, Extreme saw a 50% reduction in voluntary staff turnover during FY23, which is a testament to the strength of our employee engagement, skills development, and advancement programs. Just as impressive, through our focus on inclusion, 35% of our workforce now proudly represents diverse backgrounds. Additionally, we set new target goals that include:
    • The implementation of formal social policies, including a Human Rights, Pay Equity, and Health & Safety Policy.
    • An increase in the recruitment practices and initiatives for underrepresented groups.
    • We increased Annual Giving Day contributions by 15% each year.
  • Governance: Not only is our workforce representative of diversity, but so is our corporate board. 50% of our independent board members come from diverse backgrounds. Additional governance and compliance milestones include achieving SOC 2 certification for ExtremeCloud IQ for the third consecutive year. Starting in fiscal year 2025, we will provide board and executive training on sustainability.

As we look ahead, we remain determined to lead by example—not just within our industry, but across the broader business landscape. Together, we are building a more sustainable future—one that benefits both our business and the planet we all share.

We encourage you to read the full Corporate Responsibility Report and let us know your feedback. Where can we improve?

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in this journey.
