I wanted to reach out personally extend a heartfelt invitation to all of our customers in Europe to join me and my colleagues at Extreme Connect 2023 in Berlin, May 8-11.
Extreme Connect is not just any user conference. It’s an immersive experience that brings together experts, experiences, and solutions that are tailored to meet your unique cloud networking needs. Over three action-packed days, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, gain new insights, and spark new ideas.
For those who don’t know me, I’m a Wi-Fi guy and I’ve been working in the industry for over 20 years. As someone who is deeply passionate about Wi-Fi, I have authored multiple books on the subject and have had the opportunity to present on it many times throughout my career. It’s clear to me that Wi-Fi and wireless networking have revolutionized the way we interact with technology and with each other. I firmly believe wireless networking will continue to play a crucial role in shaping our communications culture for many years to come.
At Extreme Connect 2023, I’ll be hosting multiple technical deep-dive sessions about Wi-Fi.
Join me and my co-host, Andrew Garcia as we discuss 6 GHz Wi-Fi deployment best practices. The implementation of Wi-Fi 6E and 6 GHz Wi-Fi in Europe has been a multifaceted journey. Although 480 MHz of the 6 GHz spectrum is currently available for Wi-Fi use, further availability is necessary to prevent a digital divide with other regions of the world. This session aims to delve into the current state of 6 GHz Wi-Fi, including the technical insights garnered from the real-world. The discussion will extend to key topics such as AP discovery mechanisms, channel sizing and allocation, roaming capabilities, range, PoE power consumption, and MultiGig needs.
Seriously… Wi-Fi 7? Didn’t Wi-Fi 6E just debut? Truth be told, the constant evolution of Wi-Fi technology can result in update fatigue for enterprise network administrators, with each new generation presenting new considerations and overwhelming complexities. And yes, Wi-Fi 7, is the next big thing in Wi-Fi technology that is already knocking on our door. It builds upon the foundational 6 GHz superhighway, introduced with Wi-Fi 6E, with promises of blazing wireless speeds of 33 Gbps and 5 ms latency. But should we believe all the Wi-Fi 7 hype? And when is the right time to upgrade? Join me for an honest assessment and technical preview of potential Wi-Fi 7 enhancements, including multi-link operation (MLO), 4K QAM modulation, static puncturing, and multi-RU.
Which technology will emerge victorious? In one corner, we have Wi-Fi, the reigning champion of enterprise wireless connectivity. And in the other corner, we have the challenger, 5G, the new kid on the block. Some say they’re mortal enemies, while others claim they’re two sides of the same coin. But the truth is that they’re both competitors and collaborators, with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Join us for a ringside view of the battleground, as Wi-Fi and 5G duke it out for supremacy. Along with my co-host, Brendan Bonner, we will take a deep dive into the future of wireless connectivity, examining the evolutionary paths of both technologies. And we’ll cut through the hype and disinformation, providing a no-holds-barred analysis of the technical and business realities that organizations must face when considering both Wi-Fi and 5G. The session is designed to appeal to both business-focused individuals and those with a technical mindset.
And who knows, I might also join in on another breakout session about Advanced Wireless Design. But this is just the tip of the iceberg, there will be many other technical deep dive sessions covering ExtremeCloud IQ, Extreme Switching, Extreme Fabric, digital twins and AIOps, SD-WAN, Zero-Trust, and much more
As someone who is passionate about the industry and helping our customers succeed, I truly believe that Extreme Connect 2023 is an event you cannot afford to miss. So, mark your calendars for May 8-11 and join me in Berlin. And, while my invitation was initially directed towards our European customers, I’d like to extend it to all of our customers around the world. Hop on a plane and come to Berlin.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone and if we haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself.
